HealthSouth Kingsport Celebrates Patient Safety
HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Kingsport celebrates National Patient Safety Awareness Week March 13-19, 2016, to educate the community, patients and their families and clinicians the importance of patient safety in the hospital and at home. Adopting the theme “Set Sail For Safety,” the hospital will celebrate with all hands on deck to show its commitment to caring for our patients in a safe manner to keep them sailing smoothly toward their rehabilitation goals.
Join HealthSouth Kingsport for the “Set Sail for Safety Health Fair” on Thursday, March 17, from 9 a.m. to noon. The event will be held at the Kinsport Senior Center located at 1200 E. Center St. and is open to all community members. The safety health fair will feature blood pressure and blood glucose testing, balance testing, stroke education and home safety tips. Refreshments will be available and attendees who wear green will receive a special gift in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.
“Patient safety isn’t just a top priority within our hospital, it’s also important to educate our patients and caregivers on potential safety risks at home and in the community,”said HealthSouth Kingsport CEO Troy Clark. “National Patient Safety Awareness Week gives our hospital a platform to share our safety expertise with the community and improve the way patients and caregivers perform daily tasks.”
Patient Safety Awareness Week was initially launched in 2002 and is endorsed by the National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF) whose mission is to: improve the safety of patients by identifying and creating a core body of knowledge; identify pathways to apply the knowledge; develop and enhance the culture of receptivity to patient safety; raise public awareness and foster communications about patient safety as well as improve the status of NPSF and its ability to meet its goals.
